Following this summers glorious Glastonbury festival, we thought a festival theme would be just the ticket to brighten up our September street party. Decorate your front door, garden wall, your table and chairs and even yourselves in the festival spirit - get those dancing shoes on and get ready to party!

Clearing The Street

The Council will be sweeping the street at 7:30am, please move your car to Peter Symonds College car park by then or the evening before. Apologies for the early start, this is the latest the council could do!

Running Order

7:30am - 1pm: Street Setup

The Council will sweep the street at 7:30am so you will need to move your car/s off Fairfield Road to Peter Symonds’ College car park (off Owens’ Road) by 7.30am latest, or the night before if possible! We’ll decorate the street with bunting, set up the stage and put out the tables. And do introduce yourself to some new people – the street party has been the beginning of many lasting friendships!

2pm: Street party starts

Please help any small children dress up in their favourite fancy dress costume and go to the Home Gazebo for face painting, kids tattoos and craft activities. Also, Anna & Michelle have some exciting activities planned for the older children. And whatever your age, have a go at some traditional street games – try Thwack the Rat, Ball in the Bucket, skipping or hopscotch. You can get balls, ropes and chalks from the Home Gazebo. The Fulflood Arms will be serving real ales, with Pimms and bottled cider also available. Keep your cool with an ice cream from the ice cream van arriving between 2pm and 4pm.

3:15pm: Fancy dress parade

Our traditional Children’s Fancy Dress Parade is at 3.15pm with prizes for best dressed boy and best dressed girl!

3:30pm: THE FAIRFIELD ROAD STOMP

Our funky community music event features rhythms drummed out on pots, pans, bongo drums – just grab anything you can find in the kitchen.

4pm - 5pm: MINI DISCO

Take your little ones to the stage area to boogie on down to a specially compiled play list!

5pm onwards: FOOD

We’re still finalising details for a hog roast or BBQ, but don’t worry you won’t go hungry! New for this year! Curry available from a new local business Vasanti’s Indian Food, serving meat and vegetable curries, rice and onion bhajis.

6pm: NEIGHBOURS’ TOAST & SUPPER UNDER THE STARS

Bring your glasses to the Home Gazebo to toast the oldest and youngest members of the street. There’ll be plenty of tables to share your own delicious food and drink with neighbours, friends and guests. You’ll need to provide your own plates, cutlery and chairs. If you don’t want to cook head to the BBQ or curry stall!

8pm - 11pm: 5HADES of grey

Get your dancing shoes on with live music from local band 5hades of Grey! With an extensive repertoire ranging from 1950’s classics, through funk, soul, rock and pop to the present day, you’ll be sure to hit the dance floor.

11pm - midnight: MUSIC & DANCING

Continue to dance the night away with music from The Fairfield Road playlist. The street party winds up by midnight latest.
